This online OHS course provides workers and managers with the necessary tools to identify, correct and control workstation ergonomic hazards. It also provides a better understanding of the risks associated with office automation and presents corrective actions for preventing injuries and musculoskeletal disorders.
More specifically, this course provides guidance for identifying corrective measures for chairs, work surfaces and the work environment. The section on chair adjustment presents the correct measures for adjusting the height of the seat, the height and angle of the backrest and the position of the armrests, to foster better work posture.
The section on work surfaces explains the adjustments workers can make to their keyboards, mice and monitors to make them more ergonomically sound. The section on workstations discusses the placement of work tools, as well as lighting considerations.
This online health and safety course also provides exercises and stretches that may be performed during short breaks to promote healthy blood circulation.
This course is based on several legal statutes, including the Act Respecting Occupational Health and Safety (AROHS), the Regulation Respecting Occupational Health and Safety (RROHS) and the CSA-Z412 standard. The content was developed in collaboration with Ergokinox, a company specializing in workplace ergonomics since 2006.
